A register that works like your checkbook

Reconcile against your statement

Mark each line cleared as it appears on your statement, then compare the Cleared balance to the statement's ending balance. When they match, you are reconciled; the steps are in the reconcile guide.

Bank sync is optional

Enter every line by hand, like a paper checkbook, and nothing else is needed. If you want transactions to arrive on their own, the Windows app can sync through SimpleFIN Bridge, which costs about $15 a year and is paid to SimpleFIN, not us. It can also use OFX Direct Connect where your bank supports it. TallyMint Web includes bank connections in its subscription.

Your register stays on your PC

The Windows app keeps your ledger in an encrypted file on your PC that never reaches us, and you can export to QIF or CSV whenever you like. Bank access, where you use it, is read-only.

Bring your old register with you

Import QIF, OFX, QFX, or CSV files into either version, from Settings, then Import / Export. Coming from Quicken? The QIF import guide and Move Off Quicken walk through it.

Frequently asked questions

Is there checkbook register software with no subscription?

Yes. TallyMint for Windows is a one-time $59.99 purchase with a 30-day free trial and no card required, and the register works fully without a bank connection. Optional bank sync uses SimpleFIN Bridge, which costs about $15 a year and is paid to SimpleFIN, or OFX Direct Connect where your bank supports it.

Is TallyMint free checkbook software?

Not free, but free to try. Both versions start with a 30-day free trial with no card. If the Windows trial ends before you buy, the app becomes read-only: every transaction, account, and report stays on your PC, and you can still export the whole file to QIF. To keep editing, TallyMint for Windows is $59.99 once, and TallyMint Web is from $9.99 a month.

Do I have to connect my bank?

No. You can enter every payment and deposit by hand, like a paper checkbook, or import the QIF, OFX, QFX, or CSV files your bank lets you download. Bank sync is optional: on Windows it uses SimpleFIN Bridge (about $15 a year, paid to SimpleFIN) or OFX Direct Connect where your bank offers it, and TallyMint Web includes bank connections.

Does it work on a Mac or a phone?

Yes, through TallyMint Web. The Windows app runs on Windows 10 and 11 only, but TallyMint Web runs in any browser, on a Mac or a phone, with your register in a phone-friendly layout. It is from $9.99 a month, with a 30-day free trial.
