Effective date: July 29, 2026
These terms govern your use of TallyMint, published by ks-bytebox. TallyMint is offered in two forms and some terms apply to only one of them:
By downloading, installing, subscribing to, or using either one, you agree to these terms. Sections are labelled where they apply to only one product; unlabelled sections apply to both.
When you purchase a TallyMint license, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use TallyMint on one device at a time. Each license key supports up to three device activations to accommodate hardware changes (e.g., replacing a computer). Simultaneous use on multiple devices with a single license is not permitted.
A TallyMint Web subscription grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the hosted service for personal use, for as long as your subscription is paid and current. The subscription is for one individual's account and may not be shared between people. Your plan determines how many bank accounts you may keep connected; additional connected accounts may be purchased as an add-on.
Windows app: a 30-day free trial with full functionality, and no credit card is required. When the trial ends, TallyMint switches to read-only mode: you can view and export all your data, but editing is disabled. You may purchase a license at any time to restore full access. Your data is never deleted at the end of the trial.
TallyMint Web: a 7-day free trial. A valid payment method is required to start it. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription automatically converts to a paid subscription at the plan price you selected and your payment method is charged. You may cancel at any time during the trial at no cost.
All payments are processed by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. All prices are in US dollars and exclusive of any applicable taxes, which may be added at checkout.
Windows app: sold as a one-time purchase. We may change pricing for future purchases, but your license is permanent once purchased.
TallyMint Web: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, as selected) until cancelled, and your payment method is charged at the then-current price for your plan. You authorize these recurring charges when you subscribe. Plan changes you request take effect as described in the app at the time you make them: upgrades apply immediately with a prorated charge, and downgrades apply at your next renewal. If we change the price of a plan you are on, we will give you notice by email before it takes effect, and the change will apply from your next renewal, so you always have the opportunity to cancel first.
If a renewal payment fails, we will notify you and the subscription may be suspended and eventually terminated. Suspension turns your account read-only; it does not delete your data.
You may cancel at any time from within the app, without contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and we do not provide prorated refunds for the unused remainder of a period, except as described in our refund policy or where required by law.
After a subscription ends, your account becomes read-only: you can sign in, view your data, and export it, but you cannot create or edit records. Bank connections are deleted when the subscription ends. We retain your data for 12 months after the subscription ends, with email notice before removal, after which it may be permanently deleted. See the privacy policy for details.
We may suspend or terminate an account that materially breaches these terms, that is used unlawfully, or whose payments remain unpaid. Where we terminate an account for reasons other than a serious breach, we will give you a reasonable opportunity to export your data first.
TallyMint Web is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not offer a service level agreement or an uptime guarantee, and the service may be unavailable during maintenance, third-party outages, or events beyond our control. TallyMint is operated by a single independent developer, and we would rather tell you that plainly than promise availability we cannot underwrite. If keeping your finances available regardless of any service is essential to you, the Windows app runs entirely on your own computer, and the web app lets you export your full ledger at any time.
Bank connections depend on third-party providers and on your bank. Connections may break, require periodic re-authorization, or become unavailable for reasons outside our control. We cannot guarantee that any particular institution or account will remain connectable.
Windows app: bug fixes and patches are included with your purchase. We may release major version upgrades in the future that could be offered as a separate purchase, but your existing version will continue to work indefinitely.
TallyMint Web: you always run the current version. We may add, change, or remove features over time. We will not remove your ability to export your own data.
Windows app: all financial data you enter is stored locally on your computer. You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of your data file. ks-bytebox does not have access to your data and cannot recover it if it is lost, corrupted, or deleted. We strongly recommend keeping regular backups in a separate location (such as an external drive or cloud storage folder).
TallyMint Web: we are responsible for backing up the service's data, and we maintain backups as a matter of normal operation. We do not, however, guarantee recovery of individual records you delete yourself, and we recommend exporting your ledger to QIF or CSV periodically so that you hold your own copy. Your data remains yours: we claim no ownership of the financial records you enter.
You agree not to:
TallyMint is a record-keeping and planning tool. It does not hold, transmit, or move money, and it has read-only access to any bank account you connect. It is not a bank, a money transmitter, a broker, or a financial advisor, and nothing in it constitutes financial, tax, investment, or legal advice. Balances, projections, and tax figures are computed from the data available to the app and may be incomplete or out of date; verify anything that matters against your financial institution and consult a qualified professional for advice.
TallyMint integrates with third-party services. The Windows app can use SimpleFIN Bridge or your bank's OFX service for bank sync, and Dodo Payments for license purchases. TallyMint Web uses Clerk for sign-in, Plaid for bank connections, Dodo Payments for billing, and the hosting and email providers listed in our privacy policy. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. ks-bytebox is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services.
TallyMint is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that TallyMint will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components.
TallyMint is a personal finance management tool, not a financial advisor. Nothing in the application constitutes financial, tax, or legal advice. You are responsible for your own financial decisions.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ks-bytebox shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or financial losses arising from your use of or inability to use TallyMint.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of TallyMint shall not exceed the amount you paid us for your license, or for a subscription, the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
You may stop using the Windows app at any time by uninstalling it, and you may cancel a TallyMint Web subscription at any time from within the app. We may terminate your license or subscription if you materially breach these terms (for example, by redistributing the software or sharing account access). If your license is terminated, you must stop using TallyMint, but your local data file remains yours. If a subscription is terminated, the read-only access, export, and 12-month retention described above still apply, so you can retrieve your data.
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised terms on this page with a new effective date. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the application or website. Continued use of TallyMint after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of TallyMint shall be resolved in accordance with applicable federal and state law.
If you have questions about these terms, contact us at support@tallymint.app.
