What is TallyMint?
TallyMint (also written Tally Mint) is personal finance software that comes in two forms. TallyMint for Windows is a desktop app for Windows 10 and 11 that you buy once for $49.99, with no subscription, keeping all of your financial data in an encrypted file on your own computer. TallyMint Web is the same app hosted by us, used in any browser, with the bank connections included, from $12.99 a month. Same features, same numbers; you pick the arrangement that suits you.
What TallyMint does
TallyMint covers the everyday work of managing personal finances, and this list is identical in both versions:
- Transaction register with check numbers, memos, categories, splits, transfers, and a running balance.
- Bank sync, so downloaded transactions match against what you have entered. On Windows that runs through SimpleFIN Bridge (thousands of US and Canadian banks) or OFX Direct Connect; on the web it runs through Plaid and is included in the subscription.
- Cash flow projections that show your account balance 30, 60, or 90 days into the future.
- Recurring bills and income that can auto-enter on their due dates, with a monthly bills calendar.
- Budgets with monthly targets per category and actual versus budget tracking.
- Savings goals, loan amortization, and investment tracking with cost basis and capital gains per lot.
- Reports: spending by category, cash flow grids, month in review, net worth trends, and a tax summary, all exportable to CSV.
- Import from QIF (Quicken and most desktop finance apps), OFX/QFX, and CSV, plus export to QIF, CSV, and TXF.
- Light and dark themes, and a phone-ready layout on the web.
How TallyMint is different
You can still pay once. The Windows app is a one-time $49.99 purchase with a 30-day free trial (full features, no credit card). After the trial it becomes read-only until you buy a license, but your data is never deleted. Bug fixes and patches are included. One-time-purchase finance software has become rare, and we intend to keep selling it.
Your data can stay on your computer. With the desktop app, everything lives in an encrypted file on your PC, opened with your master password. There is no cloud account, no telemetry, and no tracking. You can back up your TallyMint folder yourself to Google Drive or OneDrive, but nothing is ever sent to us.
Or we can run it for you. TallyMint Web puts the same app in your browser, which means it works on a Mac, a Chromebook, or a phone, and the bank connections are part of the subscription instead of a key you set up yourself. Your ledger lives in our encrypted database, walled off per account, and bank access is read-only: TallyMint can never move your money.
Who TallyMint is for
Buy the desktop app if you are on Windows, want a one-time purchase with no subscription, and would rather keep your financial data local and private. Subscribe to the web version if you are not on Windows, want the same ledger on several devices including your phone, or would simply rather not manage a bank connection or backups yourself.

Is TallyMint safe?
With the desktop app, your data never leaves your computer, so there is no cloud server for an attacker to breach at all. Your ledger file is encrypted with AES-256 and unlocked with your master password, which is never stored: Argon2id derives the key that opens it. The app collects no analytics or telemetry. With TallyMint Web, your data is encrypted, isolated per account at the database level, and reached only through your signed-in session, and bank access is read-only through Plaid so nothing can move money. Yes. The desktop app runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11. It is a native Windows app, not a browser tab, so it stays fast even with years of history. If you are on a Mac, Linux, or a phone, use TallyMint Web instead.
Can I import my data from Quicken?
Yes. Quicken can export your data to a QIF file, and TallyMint imports QIF, along with OFX/QFX and CSV. Your transactions come over in seconds, including splits, transfers, and even transfers inside split transactions, with categories matched to your TallyMint categories where the names line up.
