TallyMint Web subscriptions and billing
Everything about paying for TallyMint Web in one place: how the trial works, how to change plans, how to add connected accounts, what happens if a payment fails, how to cancel, and exactly what read-only mode does and does not take away. Every control described here lives in the app under Settings, and none of it requires emailing us.
The plans
Two plans, each billable monthly or yearly, and every plan includes every feature:
| Web Standard | Web Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $12.99 | $17.99 |
| Yearly | $99.99 | $139.99 |
| Connected accounts | Up to 5 | Up to 14 |
The account count is the only difference between the plans. Accounts you track by hand, with no bank connection, are unlimited and do not count toward your plan.
Starting a trial
Creating your TallyMint account is free and needs no card. The 7-day free trial starts when you choose a plan, which happens inside the app rather than on this website: sign in, use the Choose a plan button, pick your plan and interval, and complete checkout. A card is required to start the trial. Nothing is charged for seven days, and cancelling before then costs nothing at all.
Your exact renewal date is always visible in Settings, so you never have to guess when the trial turns into a charge.
Changing plans
In Settings you will see your current plan and the other three options. Pick one and TallyMint tells you, before you confirm, exactly what will be charged and when. The rules:
- Upgrades happen immediately and are prorated. Moving from Standard to Plus, or from monthly to yearly on the same tier, takes effect right away and you pay only the difference for the time left in your current period.
- Downgrades wait for your next renewal. Moving from Plus to Standard, or from yearly to monthly, is scheduled rather than immediate, so you keep what you already paid for until the period ends. Nothing about your access changes in the meantime.
- Your extra connected accounts come with you. If you own extra accounts, they are carried over to the new plan automatically.
A scheduled change shows up in Settings as an amber panel naming the new plan and the date it takes effect, with a button to cancel it if you change your mind. Only one change can be queued at a time, so cancel the pending one before scheduling something different.
Adding extra connected accounts
If you need more than your plan covers, extra accounts are $0.99 a month or $11.88 a year each, and you add them yourself in Settings with a stepper: set the number you want and confirm. The confirmation tells you the cost before anything is charged. Increases are prorated immediately; decreases take effect at your next renewal.
Whether an extra account or the next plan up is cheaper depends on how many you need. Going from Standard to Plus buys nine more accounts for $5 a month, so once you need five or more extras, changing plans is the better deal. TallyMint does not do that arithmetic for you, so it is worth a moment's thought.
Invoices, receipts, and cards
Billing runs through Dodo Payments, our payment processor. From Settings, Manage subscription opens their customer portal in a new tab, where you can update your card, download invoices, and see your payment history. Receipts arrive by email automatically after each charge.
If a payment fails
Cards expire; it happens. A failed renewal does not delete anything. You will get an email, and the app shows a banner asking you to update your payment method. Use Manage subscription to fix the card and the subscription picks up where it left off. If it stays unpaid, the subscription eventually ends and the account goes read-only, which is recoverable at any point by subscribing again.
Cancelling
Open Settings, then Manage subscription, and cancel there. No email required, no phone call, no retention maze.
- You keep full access until the end of the period you already paid for. Cancelling on day 3 of a month you paid for does not cut you off on day 3.
- When the period ends, your bank connections are disconnected, because those bill every month they exist.
- Your account becomes read-only instead of closing.
- Changed your mind before the period ends? Revoke the cancellation from the same portal and nothing is interrupted.
What read-only mode actually means
This is the part worth being precise about, because plenty of services use "cancelled" to mean "locked out". TallyMint does not.
You can still: sign in, open every account and transaction, run every report, and export your entire ledger to QIF or CSV, plus realized capital gains to TXF for tax software. Your history stays exactly as you left it.
You cannot: add or edit transactions, accounts, budgets, bills, or goals, and imports are disabled. A banner explains the state and offers a plan picker.
Subscribe again from Settings and full access returns with your data intact. Read-only is a pause, not a wall, and it exists so that a lapsed subscription never holds your own financial history hostage.
How long is my data kept?
Twelve months after a subscription ends. That window is there so a lapse, a gap between jobs, or a change of heart does not cost you your history. We email you before anything is removed, and you can export everything at any point during it. Come back inside that window and your ledger is exactly where you left it.
Refunds
The free trial is the refund policy, in the sense that it lets you answer the question before any money moves: cancel within seven days and you are never charged. After that, periods are paid in advance and are not automatically refundable, so cancelling stops the next renewal rather than clawing back the current one, and you keep access until that period ends. If you think a charge was a genuine mistake, email support@tallymint.app with your order number and we will look at it individually. See the refund policy for the full text, including how desktop licenses differ.
The desktop app is billed completely differently
Worth stating plainly, because people own both: TallyMint for Windows is a one-time $49.99 purchase with a license key, no subscription, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Nothing on this page applies to it. If you are looking for license key help instead, see backups, your data file, and moving to a new PC.
